Women at the Well is a weekly meeting for women of all ages, where we come together to learn about our faith, pray together, and support each other in our varied ministries. Like the Samaritan woman in the gospel, who meets Jesus at the well, we also seek to encounter Christ and receive "the living water," that enables a life-changing response in ourselves, our families and our communities. We focus on four aspects: to PRAY, to LEARN, to SERVE and to BELIEVE.
In keeping with "summer spirituality," we slow down as a group during the summer months, to enjoy the gifts of time and family. We schedule one outing per month, which is open to the whole family.
Summer 2010 schedule:
June 23: meet at Laguna Gloria Art Museum for a tour of this Austin historical and natural gem. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy in the gardens.
July 15: pilgrimage to Mission San Jose, in San Antonio. Meet at St. Catherine's at 9am to drive to SA. Pack a picnic lunch. We will return in the afternoon.
August 12: Visit to Pedernales Falls beach area. Let's enjoy the last few days of summer with a picnic at the lake, before the school year starts up again.
On our journey together, we have studied and discussed books, such as Dr. Wendy Wright's "Sacred Dwelling: A Spirituality of Family LIfe," as well as booklets on the Divine Mercy and Sr. Faustina's writings. We completed a six-week course on the "Eucharist: Source and Summit of our Faith. " Last summer we made a pilgrimage to the Poor Clares Monastery in Brenham, Texas. With our children, we walked an outdoor Stations of the Cross, meditated in a labyrinth, did some Catholic cooking in the kitchen, by making St. Peter and St. Paul Mounds to celebrate their feast day, and finally created a prayer box honoring St. Anne, as a gift for our grandmothers.
