Support for the Roof at the Cloistered Carmelite Sisters’ Convent
Greetings from your brother Fr. Ray Pothireddy. Two years ago, the Bridgetine Sisters requested help to repair their convent roof, bathrooms and to improve security of the building. We all stepped in with support for them. Now, those Sisters are well-protected and happy. Most importantly, they pray for all of us every day.
This past year the heavy rains in India caused the 50 year old Cloistered Carmelite Sisters Convent building to leak causing much damage to the building and great unrest to the poor sisters. When they requested help from me, I approached our pastor, Fr. Pat, to let him know of their situation. He generously gave his permission to seek your support to provide the necessary financial help, the sisters need to fix their Convent roof. The sisters spend their entire time in prayer and remain within the four walls of their convent by totally depending on charities for their survival.
In the past three years some of the parishioners have visited these Cloistered Carmelite Nuns and witnessed how they live in prayer, depending upon charity and God’s Providence. Here are their testimonies.
“It has been a blessing to meet with the Cloistered Carmelite Nuns in Kurnool, India. These sisters have dedicated their life to prayer for the world. We are fortunate to have them also praying for us. They are dependent on our contributions for the continuation of their mission. Let us pray for them; let us support them.” – Stephanie and Greg Nelson
“When I visited India, I personally experienced these bright smiles behind the grill. Joining together to repair their roof will be a wonderful gift from our Catherine’s community.” – Alison Manzer
“My visit to the Carmelite Sisters was very humbling. I am still in awe of the devotion to their charism, convent, each other and above all to the Diocese of Kurnool in spite of the many financial and physical challenges they endure every day. They will be grateful for our help.” – Juan Ontiveros
“It was such a joy to meet the sisters in person. Our meeting was very enlightening learning that their mission is to continuously pray for the world. This showed their sacrifice and devotion to all of us and has increased my faith. The vision still sticks with me today to see the constant smiles on their faces.”
