St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church is seeking a skilled pianist and/or organist to accompany our 11:30 Sunday Choir in partnership with its Director, cantors and psalmists.
The group rehearses on Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 PM and gathers at 10:45 on Sunday mornings to warmup before offering music at our 11:30 Mass.
The ideal candidate will be versatile, able to play the many styles of the Church’s music fluently and artfully from printed scores in multiple formats. Must be able to receive, accept and respond appropriately to direction from the Director or Leader with regard to tempo, dynamics and other interpretive aspects of the music being rendered. Exceptional sight reading abilities will be important. Must understand or be able to rapidly assimilate the role of music in Catholic liturgy in its cyclical variations; therefore, candidates with existing knowledge of Catholic liturgy and/or liturgical music will be given enhanced consideration. Bachelor’s degree in music preferred; applicants with other equivalent experience will also be considered. This is a part-time position, but may grow in scope and compensation as the accepted candidate acclimates and is able to accept additional responsibilities.
APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED NOW. INTERVIEWS WILL BE SCHEDULED BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 10th.
